New Kids On The Block Concert In Portland Maine

So we decided to get tickets to the New Kids On The Block concert at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland Maine. I was a fan when I was about 10, back in ‘88. I never got to see them, so I figured it would be entertaining. I wasn’t disappointed. They’re not the best singers, Donnie Whalberg in particular. Actually, his solo was down right terrible. But the show was engaging from open act to closing song (Hangin’ Tough). I took over 1700 photos when I was able to bring in my Nikon D80. Yippee.

The Drive To Portland…

Me, driving to Portland with the goof-troop. We’re all feeling a bit akward, but curious.
We wondered if anyone knew we were going to the NKOTB concert.
Jabbawocees were the opening act.
And they were as good as they were on TV when I complained about my wife making me watch it.
They really are good. The dance style is a cross between hip-hop and contemporary dance.
They we’re pretty funny too. Here they are on their way out. They got a big round of applause, and it was well deserved.

The People Of Portland, Maine – And Obvious Fans Of NKOTB, While We Wait For The Bad Boys Of Boy Bands

My beautiful Erin. I Love you, baby.
There was a group of girls in their mid-teens wearing custom made matchingNKOTB t-shirts.
These ladies were all about posing for the camera.
Ladies, I hate to say it, but if you told me you were old enough to drink beer, I’d say NO FREAKIN WAY BABBAROONSKIES….. But you we’re the most avid NKOTB fans in the place, and I hope you don’t waste all your time looking for your photos on “Big Daddy.com”. Was it one of you guys who threw the panties on stage?
This chick had it down pretty good too. Nice tights.
You guys again? Allright, last one.
Holy crap. Am I that old. When I was a NKOTB fan I was 10 years old. And we didn’t know any better. These girls are a little older, but still. Why is it that the girls (and ONLY girls) that dressed like they were in the 80’s weren’t even born till, at the latest, the mid 80’s?
Merch.
Murphy. It says passion on his neck.. not ASS. And his passion tonight would be beer, not NKOTB. You shall see proof further down the page.
Holy Crap – the merch vendor saw this guy coming…
Murphy. Typical, special, wacky, always entertaining Murphy. My oldest friend – 25 years out of 31 and counting.
Magalicious Maggie – the owner of http://jaxhaven.com , Murphy and A Better System.org… This was all her genius idea. The concert that is…

Graffitti I Saw Whilst In The Men’s Room

Simple, yet effective, if they were referencing the smell in that stall. I believe there was more pee ON the toilet than in it.

Ok, So here’s the NKOTB photos, sans descriptions. There’s just way too many.

Quite an opening, though the music was wierd. Really wierd.
When these guys first started back in the 80’s there wasn’t a single cellphone in the crowd, and these glows would be yellow from Bic’s and Zippos. Now, there’s not a single lighter in the crowd (they aren’t allowed in the stadium, and nobody smokes anymore but me), and all this electric blue. I like electric blue. You may notice…
Up they rose… Donnie Whalberg rising, ironically, exactly like his brother in the movie “Rock Star” (If you haven’t seen it yet, watch it)

Intermission At A Love Song.

Time to move the van out of a private parking lot and into a spot right next to the Civic Center. As with anything done with Murphy, it was an interesting 4 blocks.

Murphy kept trying to get me to go to the bar (the brick wall behind him). When I said no, he tried to intimidate me by throwing up what I presume to be fake gang signs. I assume this because he’s a father of 3, living in lilly-white Kennebunk Maine, about 5 minutes drive from the George Bush’s house.

The End….

But Wait – There’s More! I got some perrrty photos that I wanted to share. These were artsty fartsy images I took tonight
