How (My) Websites Are Made

I had to make a website last night, and I thought I would record it to show the process I use. This is taken over several hours at 1 frame per second sped up to 12x normal speed.

This is what I do all day long.

  • @kim - I would highly recommend Fireworks instead of photoshop. You can do just about anything and it's not as daunting as photoshop. It's at adobe.com with a 30 day free trial. Thanks for the props. I love my job.

@Eric - it's a skill everyone will have to know, like using a computer was 15 years ago. Keep working on it in your spare time, it's a highly lucrative career, and there's never, ever a shortage of work. As far as Michael Scott, indeed you did see him. I find it therapeutic to 'watch' the office whilst working. Rock on!

  • I started messing with websites about 12 years ago when I left school. I pretty much learned by reading the Source Codes from websites to see what html did what. I went back to school this past January to become legit. Had a blast in the course. I couldn't go back this semester.

I wish I could do that all day.

    Great job..

Did I see Michael Scott from The Office in there at about 39 seconds?

  • You're a rockstar! I've built a few sites in wordpress. I'd love to know how to create in Photoshop and then recreate for the web.
